Dear Delegates to the 2014 LCC Convention:
I’m glad you will be joining us for the Tenth Convention of Lutheran Church–Canada, set to meet on the campus of the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver in June. As you may know, the Synod moves among the areas of our three districts from one Convention to the other. Since we met in Winnipeg (that’s Central District territory!) in 2008, and in Hamilton, Ontario (East District) in 2011, it’s time for us to come again to an area served by the Alberta-British Columbia District. Though we have met in the ABC District a number of times, this will be the first LCC Convention held in the province of British Columbia. Vancouver is a stunning city, and we look forward to connecting with pastors, deacons and members of our congregations in the region.
Details on how to register your attendance at the Convention will come in early February. For those serving as delegates, the church in your part of our country is honouring you with their choice to ask you to represent them. Their concerns will be strong in your mind and memory as you travel to Vancouver. At the same time, your fellow delegates and the leaders of our church will have ideas and guidance to benefit the body of Christ which the folks in your area may not have thought of. So it will be part of your task to be open to their contribution as well.
In addition to the business portion of the Convention, we shall also sing, pray, receive teaching, and come to know brothers and sisters from across the country. I hope you will pray between now and June that the Lord will use our time together to strengthen His people, and to equip us to bring Christ to our neighbours who do not know Him. In the Name of Jesus, thank you very much for your willingness to serve in this way!
Sincere greetings in Christ,
Dr. Robert Bugbee, President
